Gaisce Trip to Glendalough

As the Easter holidays closed we were all excited about our Gaisce presidents award adventure trip. We went into school on the monday morning and went to our usual classes. Then at half two we set off on our trip. It began well with Papa G and cornelius crackin the jokes!! The bus trip wasn't that long and we were there in no time the bus dropped us ages away from the house we were staying in so it was a bit of a trek to get there. We just relaxed andplayed at the river for the rest of the day. As part of the trip we had to cook our own. most of the lads had never even seen their own ovens before so the pizzas didnt turn out very well!! After dinner we watched a film and then headed up to bed. We needed some rest before the big hike the next day.

We woke up the next morning and had cereal for breakfast and then headed out for our 14km hike. We were very lucky with the weather because it was a very hot and sunny day. The first part of the hike was easy as it was on flat paths. But after about half an hour it began to get increasingly difficult. When we got to the top there was some magnificent views of the lake and the surrounding scenery which made it all worth while. After we got back to the house there was a great sense of accomplishment after our 6 hour hike.

Mr. O' Loughlin had organised a treasure hunt for us that night which was great fun and very enjoyable. Everybody was glad to go to bed that night. We woke up and were treated with a massive fry. We were sad to leave as it was a brilliant trip.
