World Debating

While debating in Castleknock College has never rivalled rugby at the forefront of the school's activities, it has always been a successful endeavour, particularly in recent times. While the school has not lifted a leinster senior cup in terms of rugby since the '60s, the school in the last 13 years has three times won the Leinster senior debating championship. Twice within the last three years has it been won; in 2007 and then retained in 2008.

The school's debating society has also contributed its best to the Irish World Schools Debating Team with 5 students repressenting Ireland at various locations around the world since the competitions beginning in 1988.

However the College debating society does provide for others who may not be at this level, those who want to develop their skills and engage in friendly debate every week. No matter what level you believe yourself to be, theres always something on offer, whether its judging in house debates or just spectating, being exposed to new ideas and having a laugh at some of the banter thats bound to emerge from any debate!
